Which of these proposed teasers (to the same content) would make you want to click it?

1. Passion is bullshit

2. Goals are for losers

3. Lies that Billionaires tell

4. How Billionaires avoid looking like jerks

5. It comes out of a bull’s anus and billionaires can’t get enough of it!

6. How the rich keep you poor

7. Bad advice from rich idiots

8. The biggest lie that rich people tell

9. Can luck be manipulated?

I already have the opinion of an expert in this field. But I want a second choice to do some A-B testing on.

All of the teasers are honest representations of the material, at least so far as Internet teases go. And by that I mean that when you read the content you'd agree the headline made some sense with the material. It's a low standard. The headline is just to inspire curiosity.

Which one makes you most curious?

6. how the rich keep you poor
it's not true of course, but it is probably what your target audience believes and would respond to

It's a close race between:
3. Lies that Billionaires tell
7. Bad advice from rich idiots

But in the end I'm going with 7. I think Billionaires tell all sorts of lies and some of the lies might be interesting. But I think the bad advice would be more fun to mock.

#8 (biggest lie that rich people tell). This is because I suspect that many, many successful people are either oblivious or willfully blind to the factors that contributed to their success. Every successful person believes their success is due mostly to their basic awesomeness and/or hard work, and (intentionally or not) minimizes the roles played by chance, manipulation and accident.

Number 9, without a doubt.

Two things I find irresistible are offering my opinion when asked, and increasing my ability to manipulate.

9. Can luck be manipulated?

3.

5. and 8. (and possibly 6.) stink of desperation selling, spam and pop ups. Much along the lines of the legendary "Use this 1 weird old trick to lose weight". And to be honest, your re-titled "viral" video did just a little bit too.

I hope you are only experimenting with the dark arts Mr. Adams. I know that to some degree headlines like 5 and 8 would be counter-productive in the long run. I would certainly block sites/links like that on social media, stop visiting them etc.

Themes that align with "wealthy people are evil/liars/stupid/jerks" make me think the writer/editor is a moron. And I tend to skip headlines that are obvious click bait. I tend to click on links that seem legit and seem to indicate I might learn something. So none of those teasers would work for me. I might click a link "business opportunities in cow manure" or a dressed up version of same, such as "investors passionate about cow manure". But I'm not a teaser-writer.

Is it just me, or is it fascinating to see frequent-commentators weigh in and correlate "what gets their attention" to the types of things they post in this blog? Looks like there's some comically overly-predictable correlation.

#9. But did you place it last because most people will pick the the last one? Would the results of your mini-poll be different if the sequence were different?

Can luck be manipulated.

Anything that mentions the word "anus" is an instant no-click.

In order of preference:

1, 3, 6, 9, 2, 7, 4, 5

I expect I'm biased against "Goals are for losers" because I just read the book and have seen it a lot.

9. Can luck be manipulated?

I also like 2. Goals are for losers.

The rest seem to me to be negative, these two I might think are geared towards information that I would find useful for self improvement.
