Which of these proposed teasers (to the same content) would make you want to click it?

1. Passion is bullshit

2. Goals are for losers

3. Lies that Billionaires tell

4. How Billionaires avoid looking like jerks

5. It comes out of a bull’s anus and billionaires can’t get enough of it!

6. How the rich keep you poor

7. Bad advice from rich idiots

8. The biggest lie that rich people tell

9. Can luck be manipulated?

I already have the opinion of an expert in this field. But I want a second choice to do some A-B testing on.

All of the teasers are honest representations of the material, at least so far as Internet teases go. And by that I mean that when you read the content you'd agree the headline made some sense with the material. It's a low standard. The headline is just to inspire curiosity.

Which one makes you most curious?

I would be most interested to read one of "Goals are for losers" or "Can luck be manipulated?".

Truthfully - 'bad advice from rich idiots' - anything branding tiself as that is goi g to be interesting or at least amusing. Some of the others are interesting but I suspect only because I know the work and yourself already. So from you 'can luck be manipulated' is intriguing. Coming at it blind, I'd expect some feel good, ley line crap. Similarly 'lies billionaires tell' - from you I think that's interesting but cold I'd think that's conspiracy theory claptrap. ( Ditto how the rich keep you poor). Too didactic.

2. Goals are for losers

I'm getting crankier about even mild profanity as I get older. Go figure!

6. How the rich keep you poor - 1st choice

8. The biggest lie that rich people tell - 2nd choice

I would also get No.9, but for me it's the definition (or essence) of luck that it can't be manipulated. If it can be manipulated, than it's not luck but something else which has a component of "luck" in itself (like happiness, success or health).

Hm. I realize now that can be downright everything (in my opinion), so put that in as:

9. Can luck be manipulated? - 3rd choice

I would click on number 3.

Number 3 makes me most curious about the article. I've learnt to do what rich people do, not do what rich people say. Knowing more about the lies they tell (what they say) will help me do this more effectively.

I just had a thought... perhaps this is a survey of Scott's readers in a different way. Let's assume each answer has its own demographic groups that tend to like it more. Maybe by our answers, Scott is able to get a general idea of the people who reply to his blog on a regular basis.

9 sounds like something a person who's about to go to Vegas would look at for example. 1 and 2 could easily be picked by methodical, system oriented people. Hmm... Food for thought.

So, maybe a better question would be to ask which company is this article for, the WSJ might like 1,2, 3, or 9 where the huff post might like 6 or 8.
