I believe you can pray someone to death under the right conditions. What?
You skeptics don't believe me?

Lately the top guy in Iran, Ali Khamenei, is getting pushback from the faithful because the Supreme Leader's job description is feeling a bit too much like God's job, and polytheism is a big no-no under Islam. My theory is that if people in the United States start praying to Khamenei, his own people will stone him to death to protect monotheism.

It wouldn't take many people praying to him to do the trick. A few thousand people might be enough. We could call ourselves Khameniacs and make t-shirts with his image. If praying to a false god seems like too much work, you can just tell people you do it. That sort of thing is hard to verify. The shirt would be ugly, but a good prank like this takes some sacrifice.

I think that would be a good idea to put in practice with the president of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez.

(By the way I'm from Venezuela :P)

I like it when your inner Dogbert writes a post. It makes my inner Dogbert wag.

And you could also wear the shirt when performing your 'Flashdance' routine.
Sorry, everyone, for the mental image.

What a great shirt to wear when boarding airplanes...

Scott,

While I realize the chance of this happening is extremely remote, have you considered that if your idea catches on and this guy gets killed on account of it, you will have indirectly caused a man's death?

I'm not necessarily saying that's a bad thing in this case, but it seems like a pretty huge thing to think about.

Dwigt,

True, but that idea didn't originate in The Simpsons--it was a cultural reference to an actual shirt. "Ayatollah A$$ahollah" shirts actually existed for a while (years before The Simpsons began) and were even semi-popular.

It's amazing what passed for clever in the 1970s.

It's sort of like Karma. Very simple.

God Bless Khamenei and Osama may they live forever.

My take on the spartan insult.

You're a sick, sick man.

And I like sick men. Not sure what that says about me. Check that - am sure, don't care.

To curiouschul:
The facts in that regard are undisputed.
The reason is equally obvious: The test subjects were all praying to the wrong god and the rightful one punished the participants in order to prove her point.

Putting on a t-shirt with that image is like wearing a target on your back ... it is going to make you real popular with totally the wrong kind of people for all the wrong reasons ... trying to explain yourself out of this one, citing the Dilbert/Scott Adams blog, when you see them coming is not likely to work ... in time ...

Scott I am pretty sure you needed a big disclaimer on that suggestion ... but you didn't ... you might find yourself trying to explain yourself out of this one ... which is probably still a hell of a lot better than trying to explain yourself out of the above described situation ... and the word hell is very fitting here ...

Other than that it is a very entertaining post.

This is just evil.

As a side note, I've heard that studies done on prayer for people with illnesses show that the groups who know they are being prayed for become slightly less healthy. Is it performance anxiety? Or do people care less for themselves if they think a deity is about to step in and fix everything?

It's a good idea, but even if it works -- and that's a long shot -- I don't think it counts as "praying someone to death." It counts as manipulating idiots into doing murder for you. If they were American idiots, or any civilized country in fact, it would be illegal. I'm not sure about the legality of international manipulation.

The skeptic in me wants to know if you really believe that or if you just needed an excuse to use the word "Khameniac."

No, you probably cannot pray someone to death. This guy tried (on national TV even) and failed miserably.

I'm in! Do I have to do it Muslim/Islam? Or will this suffice?

In the name of the Father, the Son and Ali Khamenei... Amen.

You really can... A good number of the Psalms in the Bible are prayers for destruction (see Psalm 35, 68, 137, etc). You're not supposed to smash anybody but you're sure allowed to ask God to..... which is a lot different than asking the Muslims to....

I recall a Simpsons episode in which Homer had a t-shirt that read "Ayatollah A$$ahollah."
