I wonder how many people got the joke in the last panel of this comic. Do you know what the "lucky guess" refers to?

On a totally unrelated note, which I add because this blog post would be otherwise inadequately sized, here's an update on  my voice, in case anyone is curious. Thanks to surgery in July to correct my exotic voice problem (Spasmodic Dysphonia), I now have a virtually normal voice. It started coming back strong in the past few weeks.

This is a life changing event for me. I lived for 3.5 years without the ability to speak in most situations, and with the knowledge that the condition was considered incurable. However unpleasant you imagine it is to be unable to speak, I can assure you it was worse. But thanks to one surgeon, Dr. Berke at UCLA, apparently my problem is solved.

And so I am reborn, in a sense. Every day since the rewired nerves in my neck regenerated, and speech returned, life has been terrific.

Medical advancements seem to be picking up this century. Looks like AIDS and HIV may be about 10 years away from being cured/ immunized... See article:

Congratulations, Scott! I'm thrilled on your behalf. Nice to know that when doctors say "incurable", they mean "except by eccentric cartoonists armed with the power of affirmations". If I ever get AIDS, I'll definately be in touch.

So were the editors the only people who DIDN'T get it??? They are management though, aren't they?

One of your best!

Only way it could be funnier is if somehow the words !$%*!$ pills" were worked into it.

Your voice may be back - but is it better than it was before yet? Don't settle!

(And yes, we got the joke... I too was suprised your editors let it through after they made you put underpants on Asok!)

Congrats Scott! It's great to hear that your voice has returned!

I love your comics, so it's good to hear that the guy who brought me so many !$%*!$ is having more !$%*!$ himself!

p.s. the dirty comic isn't any dirtier than the actual spam, which we have all gotten inured to by now!

The topic of the e-mail seems rather obvious Scott, given your current affliction, the PHB is uncomfortable with the size of his voice. Now we all know there are people out there that will try to sell you pills, or exercises, or surgery to fix this problem. However, as all women will tell you, its not the size of your voice that matters, it's how you use it. Congratulations on using yours again, your wife must be thrilled?!?
