My bet is Dilbert does have access to the payroll system, whether the PHBs intended it that way or not..

As for floppies (who calls them "data diskettes", honestly?), they should've died a long, long time ago, but while Windows Server 2003 and XP are still alive there will be occasions where the only means of providing a needed driver for installation is a floppy. I think that is the biggest (maybe only) reason they haven't completely vanished from the computing landscape.

This reminds me of one of the many confrontations between Calvin and Moe in the strip Calvin and Hobbes. Anyone else see the connection?

Shop classes went the way of the dodo, didn't they? My high school never had any shop classes.

@rharlson: I only remember diskettes because until a couple of years ago, I had a computer that was roughly the same age as this strip.
