Eh.. it's a cartoon, it wasn't true back then, less true after the found of oil, and will most likely get less and less likely every day. Possibly even after their oil runs out, as their government is investing all the revenue raised by their oil very cleverly.. as an entire nation it was barely touched by the last "global" (read western.. as in europe and usa) economic crash.
