What the bigbang theory fails to explain is where matter came from. For an explosion to happen there has to be matter for it to react with to begin with.

Huh? What? As I understand it, according to the bigbang theory, the very fabric of space was created by the big bang, no? Outside of the banging protouniverse there would have been NOTHING, not any matter, nor not even empty space. Isn't this what the bigbang theory says?

If a universe bangs in the chaos, and no-one is there to hear it, does it make a sound?

Actually, the Very Early Universe was densely packed with plasma, which could in theory transmit sound waves.
