I'm in that job right now! It bothered me at first to sit at my desk & do nothing while I was surrounded by coworkers, but they moved me into my own office, so it no longer bothers me to sit at my desk & do nothing. Check out 08/28/92, I have it pinned above my computer (which is mostly used to read Dilbert comic strips all day).
I had a job like that. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get work because they needed to keep a certain number of engineers available for new project proposals. It is not a dream job, it's incredibly boring. They expected me to be at my desk all day, but didn't give me anything to do. Even when I was out visiting various labs and shops seeing how they do things relevant to my job, they'd question me on where I'd been. Needless to say, I got another job. In my new job, again, no one tells me what to do, because I'm the only one that knows what needs to be done. Now THAT's a dream job!
