I agree that the news is often depressing and/or erroneous (celebrity crap? It's like watching the trailer park win the lottery. I don't care what toothless ugly morons do with their spare time, so why do I care what rich, hot morons do?). However, I like to be informed. I DVR the news and skip a lot. :-)

its really sad that american news only gets ratings if it is negative and depressing. Oh, sure you see a story about a cat rescued out of a tree or something once a year, but the rest is super negative. I never watch the news, it will turn you into a sadist if you aren't one already
