When I started work as a programmer, one day I realised:
I was working for Company A, sitting all day at a desk, writing a program, to tell a computer what to do when someone else - also sitting all day at a desk but for Company B - types in some details, which were about overdue payment requests, in response to an invoice sent by computer by someone else in company C who also sits all day at a desk, which was sent in response to an order sent by another person who sits at a desk all day for Company D, which was an order to send a lorry to move goods from a warehouse at Company E to a warehouse at Company F.
Not one of us was growing food, looking after someone else's health, providing security, building homes or anything else of any real value.
Is there anybody doing any Real Work? I don't actually know anybody who does.
