@rpn453: A lot of internships do not pay that well. I've known a few that paid nothing or just minimum wage. The theory was that the student was getting valuable experience and education on the job, which compensated them for the lack of salary. Whether that is fair or not is a different discussion. If Asok is getting 25% of the boss's salary, that is a pretty decent pay for an internship. Also, depending on where you are working and the rules involved, it may be suprising that an intern is getting any bonus at all.
Four times seems like a lot to me. I was making 35k per year during my mechanical engineering internship back in 2001/2002. They also provided me with a furnished apartment. My boss/mentor at the time was only making about 80k. His boss was probably making about 100k.
Actually why are they complaining? Since when is a 5% bonus considered bad?
1) I would love to get a 5% bonus, but hell will freeze before that happens.
2) In the past it was 1, maybe 2%. This is actually 2,5x more then they got in the past.
