Sorry to correct you, jt7724, even if this is not this comic's point, but percentage calculation is something like

(((x - 1%) - 1%) - 1%) = x * 0,99 * 0,99 * 0,99 = x * 0,99^3 = x * 0,9703.

Most fond managers live well from lacky knowledge about percent calculation.

@jt7724: Dogbert, like other 'managers', is charging 1%/yr of the total value invested, NOT 1% of earnings.

excuse my ignorance but by my math 100%-1%-1%-1%=97% so wouldn't the boss still get 97% of his earnings.

I think it's funny how things are usually the same in year x as they are in year y, for any values of x and y that satisfy x<y
