Hello fellow Edmontonian Amay! ;)

personally i think that environmentalist types should target big business (office buildings, etc) more than they do... In my city a friend was doing electrical work in a mansion (owned by Daryl Katz) in this mansion, the furnace runs 24/7/365 when it gets too warm the AC kicks on... There are office buildings that I've heard about in my city that have the same system... good job!

And so far our government is too corporate to enact legislation to reduce imports and encourage domestic industry (VAT, anyone?). More production means higher employment, which also (hopefully) means fewer tax dollars going to welfare, which is simply redistribution of wealth from those who work to those who aren't working.

Now, how far into the negative will this one get me on here?

ewood:

If American companies were interested in providing quality service and goods more than their profits, there wouldn't be a need for Walmart.

But since those companies act stupid for any number of reasons, their profits take precedence over doing the right thing.

Andrameda, All right, all's good. I know that pay tends to be too low these days for people, and especially families, to get by comfortably and without a bunch of government assistance. I'm living on credit yet while I finish school. Wal Mart does employ a friend of mine, so I can't hate them completely, right? But I understand them to be kind of stingy about it as well, and we already know how they (and so many other companies) affect our nation. Yeah, this could go on and on. Back to our care-free Dilbert joys!
