I remember in high school that it was a big deal (supposedly) to be able to put on your college application that you were listed in The Who's Who of American High Schools. At the time it was presented as only for the top students in the class. Now, anyone can be listed for a price.
To Wintermouse: That's OK, I get notifications ;) Did the volume your friend bought really contain what it was supposed to? I've never seen what they send out.
This is like the poetry spam I've gotten ever since writing a short poem for a dumb site in an effort to get some gizmo for free. I made sure to use my yahoo email address, and it's received a crapload of spam telling me to get some kind of published volume containing the poem and so on.
