I wouldn't believe it was sarcasm.. But I can not understand why he wouldn't simply duplicate each worker.. (Give "Alice 1" one of the assignments, and "Alice 2" the other).. To insert months would not simplify giving someone simultaneous tasks.

Wrong! The project show as due/overdue on PHB's screen, it's just that Alice won't know when that will happen.
