There is a funny little truth to the punshline. People generally aknowlege persons in intellectual positions, who defy the dresscode, as extravagant and likely to be very intelligent. Mostly because they seem to get through with this behavior, implicating that they must have a great value for their company, most likely their skill. The funny thing for me is, it's propably true that people who don't dress smart just too look smart are smart. Business dresscodes are overrated, really only neccessary to identify wallmart and mc donalds employees, so you don't confuse them with customers.
