Its not erko, its erk followed by a little symbol that signifies a gasp or gulp noise. It is meant to show dread and consternation mainly.

I agree - still a POS website. The old one was better in every way unless the only thing that matters to you is color. Seriously, Scott, have you grown pointy hair, like anthevans asked? Oh, wait - I guess nitric23 wants credit for the pointy hair reference. I don't remember him writing anything particulary memorable like that, but he might have had his moment and I just missed it.
