My company is really pushing for us to do more. To not only do all we asked for, but to hunt around to other departments and offer our "Expertise". Since it would be more valuable to have a cutting edge technology to help out with, we have been asked to pick one up.

My manager rated me low in hunting down unknown needs, so i asked how I was to go about developing a new expertise that would make me more valuable to the company. Is there training, OJT, or at least shadowing of someone that has this expertise. The answer is "No" and he had no ideas. Evidently he must be scoring low in this category too.

So even if we had a training budget, there's no training available for what we need. So I did not find this comic very funny.

I work at a startup. We tried to come up with replacements to "We could go to training." with a startup in mind. One was "We could stop cleaning the toilets." But the one that inspired us was "We could take over the world."
