People who work in non-profits have always played, "If we had money...." Frankly, it's great karma that people in for-profits (theoretically for-profits) are now having to play it too. When I taught school business people loved to say, "Schools should be run like businesses." Yeah, right.
I have two solution to lowering the costs:
a)cutting support, nobody likes support and support produce nothing and spend a lot. And every time you find a trouble, then there are a support guy involved on it.
remember, too, that "if we had $" only applies to things that are not pet projects of PHCs - there's always $4M to flush on the snakeoil vendor du jour...
