The only goal of a software patch is to create 2 more bugs for every fixed bug. Well atleast...thats what Windows taught me.

My boss uses this exact method to address complaints from the staff, except instead of claiming a software patch will fix our problems he tells us a committee will get right on that.

Better yet, tell them that a firmware upgrade is being applied, since few people understand what firmware is and consequently it is an easy scapegoat (even if your system has no firmware).
