I myself work in an IT company and even our payroll operations are outsourced to a third party. When I first commented on this strip, I though Scott is exaggerating. After having reading almost 15 comments after mine I now see the reality.
And what dvorak said ("Any sufficiently advanced bug is indistinguishable from a feature") is a software programmer's mantra which we all are aware of. Brilliant comic timing though!

This is here is our "Payroll Predator" mode. It will occasionally track down and corrupt your payroll data from across the internet, BUT if you're company is very lucky it will get confused and find your competitor's payroll data instead. You have no liability because its a 'bug' and you can increase the odds in your favor by hanging horseshoes in your server room.
