Sorry, but I work for a technology company, and I hear the same thing all the time. Right now, I'm actually expected to work without a screen. Obviously that's impossible, so I have to use my laptop from home. Everytime I ask when I'll actually get a screen he gets angry and apparently he's been telling other people, "I don't understand; a laptop was good enough for him at home, now suddenly he needs his own computer here." Quite missing the point that it's not up to the employee to supply the company with equipment.
