Man, I will be laid off in 4 weeks from now, and this is exactly the feeling I am getting at work. It's amazing to realize how insensitive even nice colleagues can be towards the fact that you are about to lose your job.

I was recently laid off and ironically enough, this is EXACTLY what happened to me. No so much of the "L" symbol and wording, but the tone of his voice strongly implied it.
Scott must be working for as a defense contractor as a side job. The realism is too coincidental.
