While we're still on the subject of 'The Matrix', there's a little known fact about this movie which assuming like me you're also a nerd should find mildly interesting. You'll also need a dvd of the said film. Now that you have successfully inserted the disc into your player, speed it onto 1 hour, 55 minutes and 30 seconds. It's at this point that we see Keanu Reeves running through an apartment where we see an old woman knitting beside a tv set. On the tv screen (it's subliminal so you'll need to freeze the action!) we see a man in a black blazer, scarf and holding a megaphone. This is infact the actor Guy Doleman as 'No.2' in the 1st episode of the cult sixties series 'The Prisoner'. The Wachowski Brothers are tipping their hats to McGoohan's creation as several of it's episodes feature alternate realities which were a source of inspiration. BCNU...
Love this Matrix-themed sequence, but, for examples of Wally drawing from pop culture, it's still tough to top his hilarious Beaches-themed line from some years ago, when Dilbert tells the PHB that his LAN is a "token ring LAN", the ring of which, within the week, Dilbert figures he will tell the PHB, "is in the Ethernet". Wally's response to Dilbert as the two are walking away from the PHB's office--"You are the wind beneath my wings"--is as classic as they come... : P
