Sordatos and Redbird have it right. I started documenting all the interruptions and pointless meetings I had over the year and put them in my annual report. I explained that with the many duties I was given (which my PHBs had dumped off onto me because they didn't want to deal with them), I had to work weekends and evenings to actually 'create' anything. They didn't like being reminded of that. Of course, I also pointed out that they never actually created anything. Office politics may not be my long suit... ;P
