you know, this is funny because IBM is facing the very same; project managers and account managers live in fear because COBOL coders are dying off... of old age, and there aren't any experienced coders to replace them. One manager recently quipped that he lost two guys in the last quarter alone.
I thought at first that Wally was frightened by what Johannsen told him, but when you blow up the pic, he's clearly grinning evilly. As for milking the story for a while, Adams doesn't do that, not sure why. I think the Wally's internet fortune, trophy wife, and downfall story played out in less than a week. I agree with the commenter who said Wally enjoys his ability to come up with new ways to keep his job without doing any work, so I don't think Wally will keep this knowledge a secret long.
This one still isn't as funny as the "I didn't have any real numbers, so I made this one up" strip. That's still my favorite.
