I have to take credit for this one. Looks like I actually got my idiot boss into a Dilbert strip! (Look at my comment to the post "the worst person at the meeting" in Oct of this year). The point of what I was saying isnt that all older IT professionals are idiots, just the one I was describing. He claims to know everything because he has been in the industry so long, even things that were released only within the last six months. He will always use the 30 years line too. Mr. Adams you have made me a legend in my office, thank you sir!
Still use the occasional modem.
Its on systems where you wouldn't even want to trust a firewall. Get site to turn on the modem, dial in, tweak a few settings via a terminal, then get site to turn it off again.
They are quite old systems. But if it isn't broken...
