@frodik: I'm an IT consultant and the same goes for resumes. There are things I don't use in a resume for two reasons. First, I don't want the customers I want to think that I'm capable of such a stupid design. Second, under no !$%*!$%*!$%*! do I want the customers who think those stupid designs are great.
Gustav embodies everything that is wrong with web design. It's not about delivering something useful or beneficial to the client or their customers; it's all about producing something that looks cool.
We don't live in a world where this is 100% true: "People make buying decisions on what they read."
This may be a more true statement: People make buying decisions on what they've done before and based on what other people do, especially those they like and/or consider an authority.
