They never understood the Dilbert strips I posted about them -- the conversation this reminds me of in my career is when I tossed out an idea during a brainstorming session and was told, "Hey! Do not throw out ideas that I have no intention of executing"

Questions to what ideas he intended to execute got me a reprimand for being a smart ass.

The great thing about this and other strips is that it applies so well to other professions. I'm a social worker in a state psych hospital. This is exactly like management! And I do have Dilbert posted all over my office. If they notice, I don't think they get it....

That is so like the other variant we've all had:

PHB: "Tell me what I don't know."
You: "What don't you know?"
PHB: "I don't know!"
You: "So how can I tell you what you don't know if you don't know what it is you want to know?"
PHB "I don't know!!"
