Well, technically the answers were all right: SETI does not send signals because they will be too slow, and they have not received signals yet, they just hope someday they may.
I wouldn't argue about the waste of money stuff because that will be right until proven wrong...

Don't confuse being Anti-US government with being Anti-American.
Most people in Europe, including the academic guys, aren't Anti-American at all. But they're very much Anti-Bush and quite a bit Anti-Obama. And rightfully so, nobody should be supporting presidents who approve of torture and cause/extend wars without purpose.
It's not a Euro-US war of words... it's a bunch of assclowns ganging up on me! Thanks for backing me up, my fellow Americans... dumbasses. I'm moving to Australia.
