I think most of you are not understanding the context of the word "date" in the strip. Scott is making fun of the social interactions of dorks, and there are many similarities to dating. However, he's not saying that Dilbert's character is gay. It always ruins a joke when you have to explain it.

I disagree that "dork" isn't a romantic preference. I absolutely prefer dorks, along with geeks, dweebs, and nerds. <3
