The way to handle an individual like PHB is actually very easy. We were taught it in the Marines and it works out here in the civilian extremely well. Keep your butt covered and give the boss enough rope to hang himself with. The key is the first part "KEEP YOUR BUTT COVERED". They won't last long unless you let them.

I once was a contractor for a small company that gave its first ever "Employee of the Month" award to a new hire who had joined the company less than 3 months prior.The funny thing is the guy did not even last one more month as his hands-on appraoch got him in serious trouble.

Is "room to grow" the same thing in managementspeak as "time to go"? Wally will never be voted employee of the month because he draws a salary but doesn't exist on the company's HR computers - the Zen genius of Wally.....
