Reminds me of the prankster, Horace de Vere Cole’s exploit that I read in a book by Bennett Cerf. Cole had a ball of string in his hand, and he handed one end of the string to a man who was taking a walk, asking him to hold it while he, who was conducting a survey for the municipality, took some measurements of the street with the string. Cole walked around a couple of street corners and was about tie the string to a lamp post, when he saw another gentleman – to whom he handed the other end of the string with the same story as before. ….
