Has anybody even worked for a company that actually focused on it's focus areas? I'm fairly sure the CEO of the company I work for said Cloud Computing would be the Focus of the company... I'm still not hearing anything about Cloud Computing over a year since then.

This reminds me of a former boss of mine, a newly-hired executive director. At a full staff meeting, she decided to read to us a job description that she had written for herself. There was no particular reason for this to have come up; she simply launched into the reading. The description filled the _front_ and _back_ of a piece of paper and took several minutes to read while we all sat there in disbelief. You see, most of the items were in incomprehensible business lingo to the point where I thought it had to be a prank. You know, "Maximizing synergy between forward-moving value drivers", the kind of thing you see in satires of large corporations... except that we were a small not-for-profit agency. When she finally finished, we all sat there in awkward silence until someone finally had the temerity to be the first to speak: "That's all?" We were able to laugh a little at that point, but I still couldn't believe that had just really happened and that we weren't about to be pointed to a hidden camera.
