True story:My ex-manager used to complain about staff not able to turn up to work due to heavy snowy weather plus really icy roads (I was lucky enough to turn up before him). At the time, he had a 4x4.
Later through the years, he switched his company car (the 4x4) to a rear-wheel-drive BMW.
Funny he never complained after that. (wasn't even able to drive out of his street in the snow!!!)

Had a boss who wanted me to relocate. I was 2 hours drive from the office and he wanted me to move closer, probably so I could work late without worrying about the drive home.I was still on my 12 week probation and didn't want to move till I was a little more secure in the job.
Half way through this period, there was a heavy storm. Trees down, roads flooded, etc.
I think I was the only one who made it in without any problems. So much for being local.
