Call me an old idealist, but perhaps we could train people to do their own research before they go public with some of these ridiculous scams. Though I do have a soft spot for a warning I received the other day: "SCAM WARNING: if a man comes to your door and asks you to remove your clothes so that he can see your t*ts, DO NOT LET HIM IN. This is A SCAM! He only wants to SEE YOUR T*TS!"
I used to correct around one person per day on Facebook or email with a link to the relevant Snopes or similar article asking them to Goggling it before posting/emailing to all.
Now I have a few people trained and spotted them declaring hoax on other people's posts and down to one a week myself.
