@usessimpletools"Corporate greed" is entirely behind the support for legislating the web in this way: Huge corporate monolithic interests with business models that rely entirely on old creaky pre-web ideas of content distribution do not wish to innovate or update so instead legislate.
I've read through all the different proposed laws and none of them offer real hope to individual content producers in any way, they are all geared towards large corporate owners of multiple IP content. These proposed laws can more easily be used against small, individual IP holders than for them.
Google and the rest are in the right on this.

This idea should be given to the committee on Major Obfuscation, with Wally heading it. Input from the Elbonians for linguistic fine tuning also requisite. Final approval tendered to the CEO while he is on extended vacation....

One has to wonder if there is any hope for the species on this planet.Its like the people in the back of the boat are drilling holes in the hull because they have a business model to patch holes.
I know material gain is a constant to the human condition, and innovation is reinventing the wheel to make better wheels, but sometimes the shifting tides just look like so much froth….
