Meetings are primarily time wasters that are just to appear or pretend that you are keeping busy. Presentations are sometimes different if it is to update people on what you are working on, but only if they are part of the team and need to be given their tasks from the updates. Often presentations are to update the bosses on what you are doing and where you are at. In that case they usually just say "good job, keep at it". Which means the entire meeting (and prep time) just wasted time that could actually have been productive. In this day and age, why even have meetings? Scheduling everyone for the meeting is another waste of time. Email everyone the information that would have needed to be provided at the meeting. No need to waste more time scheduling everyone in and finding a time that's good for everyone. Videotape any presentations and send them to out, to be viewed by people when they have the time, rather than take away from actual productive time.
Have Wally's service monkey put the presentation together. Everyone will regard it as brilliant out of fear of seeming stupid or worse yet, losing their jobs...the PHB will think it makes him look good to the CEO so it's a win-win for everybody. Dilbert will go around with a small, but knowing smile for the rest of the week....
I think that this strip is surpassed only from the one of the monkeys needed to manage a company: one to manage it and t eother to look to the slides of the other monkey.
AWESOME!!! Scott for President!
