No need to fear. All of the orphan's were busy working 12 hour days at the local factory.

1) Even Scott Adams is not sarcastic enough to make a joke out of the orphans' parents dying - clearly they were unlucky 3 times because it's the third time the test missile has hit the orphanage. As the old saying goes, once is unlucky, twice is careless, three times is just bloody stupid2) the sun does not rise every day at the north and south poles - a day is not a continuous period of sunlight that may or may not last several months, it is the 24-hour period that it takes for the Earth to rotate once. The only difference between the Equator and the poles is the speed and distance you travel in that 24hr period.
