Why is it, when a parent says, "My kid goes to [insert Ivy League or West Coast Ivy here], it is bragging, but if she says, "My kid goes to Cal State LA," it's not? Where your kid goes to college is a statement of fact. I used to purposely avoid telling people where one of my four went, because I didn't want to seem like I was bragging, even though he worked his tail off to get there. I waited until people specifically asked for the name of the university.
That's what's sad--that intelligence and hard work is seen as being anti-social.
