Some big companies issued patents dealing with obvious features like clicking on a link and having web page content getting updated. We should disallow the patenting of obvious day-to-day programming practices.
Patent policing and litigation preparation cost a lot.
Right now, everybody is stepping on everybody else's patents, but it only comes to litigation when there is an awful lot of money to be made/lost.
Incidentally, there is a tremendous number of agriculture-related patents too, so becoming a farmer will in no way get you off the grid.
When 4 big companies hold so much patents it is not so surprising that any other company violates one or more of them. I think that patent law should be reordered.
