Nice touch, but I've always thought that Spite was merely Wally's secondary objective. His simple acceptance of the allegation of having accomplished nothing surprises me - doesn't he have several important functions, such as preventing catastrophic crashes in systems that nobody else knows exist?

Surely he could have turned a raise discussion into one with a Simpsons-esque "Lisa, I'd like to buy your rock" ending.

Or, better yet, promised *ongoing* stock 'advice' in exchange for a sizeable raise.
