PHB... I had a mgr like that once. A few weeks after he left the company his replacement called me. She'd found all the tests in boxes under his desk, things he'd never looked at. Funny thing is, he went on to another job in another state, then wanted his new company to hire me. I guess he missed his favorite scapegoat.
When the folks from headquarters phone me with instructions, I tell them, "Okay, now please send me an email that says what you just told me".
They hate it when I do that, but it has saved my skin countless times.
While I am not a massive Microsoft fan, one of the things I do like is Microsoft Lync.... our management use it for just about any kind of company meeting around and as such, every meeting is recorded and every decision documented in a nice easy to access format!
@Dorkbert: vaguely reminds me of the bit in one of the Hitchhiker books where life was found to be in contempt of court and confiscated from those present.
