Here's my typical scenario:

8 AM: "Hey guys, it's the day before [insert holiday here]! Keep on top of things and I'm certain we can leave shortly after lunch!!"

Noon: "We're nearing the finish line! If you work through lunch, I'm certain we'll be able to leave in the next hour!"

1 PM: ...silence...
2 PM: ...silence...
3 PM: ...silence...

4 PM: "So here's the update. We have to assist [insert inept team here] so we can get out of here ASAP. Oh, and I'm going to pass around a takeout menu because we'll probably be here for dinner."

As a bonus, he also gets a genuine guarantee against salary cut, good for two weeks

@RxF,
sorry, I was an early bird today, so didn't have my eyes open. At least I didn't get worms.

A cheep shot, eh? No wonder you gave him the bird.

One place I worked, I had transport problems for a few weeks and arrived 5 minutes after the stipulated starting time. I was staying late and more than made up for it.
One morning, one of the directors took a cheep shot of "we don't have flexi time here"

I replied "Your staff are always flexible, working late nights or heading off to site at short notice, so maybe you should." Our customer's sites were 12 hour days/7 days a week for several weeks.

Passed him the next morning and he didn't say a word.
