The multitasking "surprise" is that Wally is really still asleep, and the voice and animated head are driven by some AI code he tricked Asok into writing. And if it works at one company, rest assured that a virtual telepresence robot army will soon be deployed.

If the Wallybot goes over to Alice and starts to smartmouth her, the shotgun will come out and so much for multitasking or much of anything else...

So is that rough patch with the new technology the fact that Dilbert and Asok can let the door fall closed on Wally's Telepresence and he's powerless to do anything about it?
