Today's comic and most of the comments are actually quite a statement on today's society. 'The boss losing this one' means utlimately everyone loses. Seriously, how can you 'over apply' being a decent human being? Seriously, those of you that commented this way, you seriously believe being manipulative, condescending and a deuche like Dilbert today is acceptable behavior because it's the office? Hope I never work where you do; I feel sorry for the decent people that have to work with you (if there are any).
Definitely had an LOL moment at this one. Until very recently I worked for a company with one of the corporate values being "Treat people like family", intending this to mean "be honest and supportive". I always used to joke that I knew some seriously dysfunctional families. Little did I know that my boss (not pointed haired) and I would be cleared out to make way for a personal friend of the boss's boss.
Got to be careful with these sayings and corporate values.
On the "do unto others" saying, the point JC was making would be better termed a rule of thumb. You can always twist sayings and find daft exceptions, but generally, it's a pretty good rule of thumb IMHO.
