Makes me opine for the 80's when working for software companies was respected. As for the PHB request for a culture, I would say Communist China.

@Hugmenot Turning off that company phone is good. I knew a guy who was, I think, approaching Wally’s level of work avoidance. He collected dead AAA batteries to put in his company pager. The boss would page him and he’d not respond. When the PHB complained about his lack of response, he’d reply, “Well, here’s my pager. You look at it and tell me what’s wrong.†PHB would put new batteries in and test to make sure it was working. When the weekend came, the guy would slip in another set of dead batteries. PHB never caught on. This was the one guy they never could tap for weekend overtime.
