It's not that they've sold their souls. Many are simply born without one. Common congenital defect, really.

When you first get into sales, you realize you can't making a living as long as you have a soul, but you're not prepared to part with your soul either.
What ensues is a prolonged, heart wrenching battle to decide whether to tear yourself loose from your soul or to retain some vestige of unprofitable morality.
Then one day, the tipping point arrives rather abruptly, where you are faced with a decision between right and gain.
The rest is all downhill.
