Design by committee is known to generally be a mistake, but most companies cannot stop doing it. Suggestions are fine, but a benevolent dictator needs to make the final decisions. In particular, products are usually doomed if they are a compromise between requests from engineering and dictates by marketing.

My guess is Scott was still scribbling fighter jets attacking bad guys on the sides of his class notes in grade school then and hadn't finished the Dilbert for that day yet... ;-)
