@rxantosI was thinking more along the line of ISPs and phone companies, but I guess that's everybody's game nowadays.
If I get the onboard computer OS updated on my car, I may need to upgrade my filling station card to platinum membership or the car won't start?

By the time you research the price, photograph the item, weigh it, determine postage, list it, pack it and ship it, and factor in eBay fees (including a hefty fee on the shipping cost which falls under the category of "BOHICA") and PayPal fees, you'll find that you're about $10.00 in the hole on that item if you consider the value of your time. Unless you're in Beijing, it's hardly worth the effort to sell things that go for just a few bucks.

Remember, when you upgrade, you need a new contract with the power company, or the power cord won't work.
